LOVE AND THERMODYNAMICS

To the force that has caught me by surprise,

a pull I couldn’t foresee or deny,

thank you for teaching me this truth so wise:

love is a lot like energy, unbound,

and the law of physics applies with it—

not a tendency, fleeting or slight,

it can never be created or destroyed,

a constant flame no void can fight.

Thank you for making me realize

that love, unhindered, will spread its guise,

dispersed if it’s not held tight,

it breathes life to where there is none,

a spark where silence once had won.

Yes you are my science, steady, true,

a theorem I delights to pursue—

And I, your scientist, enthralled,

ready to test  this unyielding call.

In this lab of heart and mind,

eternal truths we seek and find.
